What it is
A synthetic 15-amino-acid sequence derived from a protein found in human gastric juice. It does not occur in nature in this form — it is an engineered fragment.
What it does
In animal models it promotes angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation) and modulates inflammatory signalling, which is the proposed basis for reported tendon, ligament and gut-lining effects.
Does it work?
The animal literature is large and fairly consistent. Human evidence is the problem: there are no large randomised controlled trials, only small pilot work. The gap between how confidently BPC-157 is marketed and what human data exists is the widest of any compound on this site.

Advisory committee (PCAC) voted 8–6 in July 2026 to recommend inclusion on the 503A compounding list — non-binding, and against the written recommendation of FDA staff. Rulemaking pending; this is not an approval, and the earliest legally compounded product is estimated at late 2027.
Common questions
Is BPC-157 approved anywhere for human use?
No. No major regulator — SFDA, FDA or EMA — has approved it for any human indication. It circulates as an unapproved research compound.
Why is it graded Emerging when hundreds of studies exist?
Because our label counts human evidence only. The literature is overwhelmingly animal work; indexed randomised controlled trials in humans number zero.
Is BPC-157 banned in sport?
Yes. As a non-approved substance it falls under WADA category S0, which prohibits it in competition at all times.
Did the FDA just approve BPC-157?
No. In July 2026 an FDA advisory committee voted 8–6 to recommend adding it to the 503A compounding list — a non-binding recommendation made against FDA staff advice. Approval status is unchanged, and rulemaking could run into late 2027.
